About the Project

The Market On Oak: Spruce Pine, NC, United States; The Market on Oak is a non-profit project serving 23 Western NC counties. The project's goal is to create sustainable income and economic development for local citizens. The project supports over 100 individual small businesses that have produced quality hand-crafted products as well as local foods, musicians and authors. The project also serves as a scholarship tool, with a portionof royalties received from product sales used to fund a scholarship program for local high school students. The project sustains a retail store in Downtown Spruce Pine and a website.
